Great to look at negatives with.. don't even need a magnifying glass.. almost like an xray viewer.Would recommend to anyone..

Seems like a great little lightbox - but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to disassemble it to take the protective covers off the plexi. The box is supposed to open, by pushing one side out - but neither my husband nor I can force it open. Only when you open it can you take out the plexi and remove the plastic - the plastic is on both sides of the plexi, apparently. The instructions tell you to open the side with the latch - - there is no latch or anything that could be remotely construed as a latch. The lightbox came in a huge box filled with protective packaging - but it sat on top of all the packaging so that it was directly under the box top - - i.e. it had no protection on top. Maybe something got bent out of shape in transit. It still lights up though, so that's a positive. I'll call tomorrow and see if someone can tell me what's wrong with the thing.Update - finally forced it open with a screwdriver and got the plastic off the inside of the screen. And, I'm sorry to say that the screen is just not that bright. It's not good for viewing negatives, which is what I wanted it for. It's better than nothing - but I usually opt to hold my negatives up to a bright window, rather than fuss with this lightbox.

This is a well priced item which I purchased to put light and the bottom of my light box. It does provide light if you lay the item directly on top of it, however it shows little squares. I use tracing paper to eleminate that issue. I'm sure there are numerous uses for this item.Kathy
