Microscopes are instruments used to enhance the resolution of an object or image. Types include compound, stereo, or digital. Compound microscopes use a compound optical system with an objective lens and an eyepiece. Stereo microscopes show object depth in a three-dimensional image. Digital microscopes are used to display an image on a monitor, rather than looking through a lens. Microscopes can have monocular (one), binocular (two), or trinocular (three) eyepieces, with varying viewing abilities. A trinocular eyepiece is used to output digital images to an internal or external device such as a camera or monitor. Magnification ability refers to the size of an image. Resolution, also known as resolvant power, refers to the clarity of the image. The interaction between field of view (FOV), numerical aperture (NA), and working distance (WD) determines resolution. Microscopes can control magnification through a fixed focus, or through a range of adjustments. They can also use LED, fluorescent, and mirror light sources to help control viewing capabilities. Microscopes are widely used in education, lab research, biology, metallurgy, engineering, chemistry, manufacturing, and in the medical, forensic science, and veterinary industries.

Very nice
By Down to Earth Reader
This model has the capacity to both reduce or enlarge, which is critical to me. Clarity is great but hard to fine-tune as the focusing mechanism is not very smooth. Art-o-graph makes this themselves, and they are top-notch in customer service. Bulbs are expected to last about 20-30 hours, but both of the bulbs that traveled while installed in the unit didn't last 10 minutes. However, bulbs shipped separately are doing just fine.

Mat Frames
By TEACHER
I guess the picture has been corrected. I didn't see anything that looks like a light box and I received mat frames just like the picture showed. These are great for my daughters pictures. She loves decorating them and putting over her drawing and hanging in her room. Looks like an art gallery above her bed! I am sure I will be ordering more!

Picture misleading
By Jeff Helm
Product is frames for art not the lightbox that is pictured. I have bought many items from amazon and never been wrong about what I am buying. The pictures should represent the actual product not something else that is related to the product unless the shopper can see the physical product in the secondary images

Not what I expected----cardboard mats
By Allyson
I ordered this along with a frame from the same manufacturer, as it was recommended as a set. I guess I should have read the fine print a bit more closely, as I thought this was one mat that fit in the frame vs. several mats. It is actually several mats that are very low quality...a very basic white cardboard. For comparison, the mats are about the same thickness as a cereal box. I found that I had to layer several to get the mat thickness I wanted and even then, you could see the pieces of the cardboard piecing off. I was pretty disappointed, mostly because I expected something else. That said, if you are getting these for children's artwork, I think they would be a good option. Perhaps I'll save them until my son is older.

Great Basic LightBox
By Insomniac
I have used this product several times with good results.I trace photos, drawings, even the perimeter of objects laid upon the plastic surface. The lightbox works well for me.There are a couple of caveats, but this is an inexpensive product so such is to be expected. The fold out stand seems a bit flimsy. I have only used the stand once, and it didn't fail, so perhaps it is thick enough. To my eye, it looks thin. I use it on my drafting board, an angled surface, so I keep the stand folded away. There isn't room to use drawing tools on the surface. I didn't know I would be using drawing tools (scale, French curve, etc.) with a tracing device, but I do. Sometimes the original is flawed and I need to correct a line or arc.The products was not made too small-there are a range of sizes available. Had I known how I would use the box, I would have spent a little more $$ for a larger unit. I will build a wooden frame around it for my specific needs. In fact, I will likely build a stand and mount just like a large pro lightbox. If you don't use tools with the box, or only use it for slides, it will work well for you. If you have any doubt, consider one or two sizes larger.SUMMARYA great product for the price.

this is a great product
By Barbara W
I use this all the time for my art projects. It works so well with photos that are a little darker than I need. And it's just a nice size for the kitchen table.
