FANTASTIC ACCESSORY

I saw a lot of advertisements on this item over the years and Scott Kelby loves this product. I've never been able to see the viewing screen of my Nikon D-300 when in the sun outdoors. So, I finally made the purchase. Wow ! My first test was at the beach. You can imagine how much glare there is. Well, this bad boy worked perfectly. My son-in-law borrowed it, loved it, and also dropped it in the sand. No problem. Sand shakes out easily. About one month later, I purchased a second one as birthday present for my son-in-law. You will love this product.

Great for Daylight Image Review for DSLRs and Compact Cameras

The Hoodman HoodLoupe 3.0 is a truly useful device, especially for viewing photos on a digital camera LCD display in the daylight or when the image is obscured by glare. Functionally, it consists of nothing more than a focusable lens and a hooded rectangular area that allows darkened viewing when placed against the digital camera LCD to review images on the display.It comes with a handy neck strap to allow quick photo reviews during shooting. The strap even has a quick release bracket that allows sharing of the Hoodman HoodLoupe with others who wish to view images.Optically, the HoodLoupe is more than sharp enough to afford a clear view of photo images. It can be focused to compensate for viewing by persons without their glasses on, but can be used while wearing glasses as well. The HoodLoupe is extremely light in weight, and has an exterior that feels rubberized, which appears incapable of scratching the LCD display while in use.Without the HoodLoupe it is often difficult to check photos in the field to make sure they are well exposed and, most importantly, sufficiently sharp. Camera or subject motion or focus errors can ruin pictures, but may not be detectable on the greatly reduced images in a 3" LCD display. To check for those errors many cameras permit magnification of the LCD display to 100%. This means the pixels in the magnified portion of the image can be displayed on the LCD to correspond 1:1 with the pixels in the full size image stored in the camera. This permits the photographer to check, for example, whether the eyes of the subject are sharp and in focus, and if not, allows the shot to be re-taken immediately. This is a much-preferred time to find out whether a picture is a "keeper" or a failure.Another incredibly valuable use of the HoodLoupe is with dozens of modern compact cameras that have no viewfinder, such as the Sony DSC RX-100 or the NEX series of cameras, or even iPhones and Android phones. The HoodLoupe can serve as a viewfinder replacement. Let me explain. These cameras use the LCD display as the viewfinder. They also ordinarily must be held out at a reading distance from the face to allow room for the photographer to focus on the LCD display while shooting. This creates two problems that the HoodLoupe can solve. First, the arm's length display is hard to see in daylight, making exposure, focusing, and review of camera data on the LCD display difficult. The HoodLoupe can supply the darkness needed to view the LCD display clearly. Second, cameras held out in the air are more susecptible to camera shake than cameras held close against the face at eye level. The HoodLoupe can be lodged against the camera, covering the LCD display, and then the eyepiece can be viewed while pushed gently against the face to help steady the camera. My experience with this technique shows that exposure quality and sharpness can be improved dramatically compared to arm's length photos. FANTASTIC ACCESSORY

I saw a lot of advertisements on this item over the years and Scott Kelby loves this product. I've never been able to see the viewing screen of my Nikon D-300 when in the sun outdoors. So, I finally made the purchase. Wow ! My first test was at the beach. You can imagine how much glare there is. Well, this bad boy worked perfectly. This Table stand provides an Easy, convenient way to use the Artograph Prism Projector. I consider it a useful assessory -- not a toy. Using the table stand allows you to sit at a table comfortably and draw your image while enlarging the size to suit your needs. So much better than sitting of the floor trying to see your image at an angle!!! It would be better if it had a knob on the side to allow for adjusting the height of the stand closer to the table. Still ... A great product.

Great for Projects and My Therapy Practice

I cannot imagine NOT having this for the projector. It is very interesting to set up, but once you get the point (make sure the table has about a 1 inch ledge you can attach to or it will not work!) you can adjust it down and use quite well. I use this for a therapy practice I have. Kids love it and so do adults. Now with this said, just bare in mind that you do have to turn off lights to use your projector, but this stand allows you to use a table surface and sit and draw. You do have to be careful to not move things, so lines stay in place. I have had this item for about a yr or so and have not had any problems what so ever!! It was worth every penny! Like I said, why would you not have it? It does require a different lense, so be sure to get that, others mentioned this in their review. I also have one set up for projecting on the wall, and so far to be honest have not used it, it has been rolled on it's stand to the closet in our office. I will eventually end up getting another table/desk with the inch ledge and set that projector up as I have this one.I cannot undestand why this is described as a "Toy", in fact it is great for professional paint artists who would rather sit than stand, and great for persons with disabilities, and for private practice therapy activities.Great item!!

Worked Very Well!

I bought this to help me with my christmas decor. I found the pictures that I wanted on the internet and then used the tracer to increase the size from 4 inches to 4 feet and trace the images onto coroplast. I worked very well. You can see the results for your self at my website... www.cereschristmastreelane.com/Coroplast.htmlI was surprised that it used a CFL. I thought that this was kinda nice since the heat produced by a CFL is much less than incandescent. But you must remember that the CFL when first turned on is fairly dim and takes a while to get to full brightness. Still, I found that I needed to get the ambient light down to a minimum in order to use this effectively.

Perfect for what I needed!

I typically do large paintings, I am a portrait artist, and I wanted a projector so I could save some time.This little guy is absolutly perfect for what I needed. I don't usually trace the entire image, but I used to have to make sketches and find some way to enlarge them, like graphing or try to freehand proportions on huge scales, which meant a lot of editing and fixing in the painting stage... This little tracer has totally cut out that step for me, I can make a sketch and just throw it right up on the wall, then ofcourse the bigger I want it, the farther away I move it and visa versa.The only downside (if you want to call it that) is the size of the picture it projects. It only enlarges images up to 3.5''X3.5'' but from there you can pretty much get it as big as you want. I solved this by putting a cross through my sketch (or on a transperency over it) and then a cross on the canvas, then when I had to move the picture to get the other sections, I just had to make sure the crosses on the progection and canvas lined up.This is really great because you just slide the pic under there, turn it on, and there it is. You can even project color images.I would recomend using in a room where you have a lot of control over the light as well, it's not quite strong enough to see in the day time, so I just do my sketches at night.Great great great for the price!

I bought this projector to do a mural on my dresser. It was so easy to use. It also projects color, so you could have a little slide show if you wanted. I would recommend this to anyone who is doing a mural. I can't wait to start on my next one!

Worked Very Well!

I bought this to help me with my christmas decor. Perfect for what I needed!

the optimal size for calligraphy on 8.5 x 11

I bought the larger size of this light box, then bought this size for use away from home. If, like me, you are using this product for calligraphy, or other work, on media sizes up to U. S. letter (8.5 x 11 inch) size, then this is the perfect product for it. Do not buy the larger size unless you need larger than 8.5 x 11 paper. A piece of U. S. bond paper will fit just within the case of this 6x9 box, with just enough space to tape down a template of that size, for instance, and the lighted area will illuminate a work area within the 8.5 x 11 paper with margins of 1.25 inches left and right, and 1" top to bottom. This box is the one perfect size for what I'm doing. But both light boxes work goooooood!!! The light is strong enough to get through my guideline sheet and my work sheet, no problem, using either Clairefontaine or Rhodia papers--two sheets, clear as you could hope, no problem. It does the trick for me.

I have an older floresent light box. This lightpad is easer to use, easer on my eyes , its slim profile eases arm/hand fatigue. All around great product ! Worth the money !

Deceptive description

All other models of light box are described with dimensions being the working surface. Be careful of this one - it is a 6x9, not 8.5 x 11.5. After 2 returns we are buying a different unit with customer pictures showing the size listed is accurate.

the optimal size for calligraphy on 8.5 x 11

I bought the larger size of this light box, then bought this size for use away from home. If, like me, you are using this product for calligraphy, or other work, on media sizes up to U. S. letter (8.5 x 11 inch) size, then this is the perfect product for it. Do not buy the larger size unless you need larger than 8.5 x 11 paper. A piece of U. S. bond paper will fit just within the case of this 6x9 box, with just enough space to tape down a template of that size, for instance, and the lighted area will illuminate a work area within the 8.5 x 11 paper with margins of 1.25 inches left and right, and 1" top to bottom. This box is the one perfect size for what I'm doing. But both light boxes work goooooood!!! The light is strong enough to get through my guideline sheet and my work sheet, no problem, using either Clairefontaine or Rhodia papers--two sheets, clear as you could hope, no problem. It does the trick for me.

I have an older floresent light box. This lightpad is easer to use, easer on my eyes , its slim profile eases arm/hand fatigue. All around great product ! Worth the money !

Deceptive description

All other models of light box are described with dimensions being the working surface. Be careful of this one - it is a 6x9, not 8.5 x 11.5. After 2 returns we are buying a different unit with customer pictures showing the size listed is accurate.

We had 14 trays of slides to view and this little viewer was THE most economical way for us to cull through all the slides. There were other options available to us but they were all more expensive. Believe me. this is what you want.

Inexpensive solution for glare on digital camera's LCD screen

Most of the smaller digital cameras available today do not have an optical viewfinder. They depend on an LCD screen on the back of the camera to compose the picture. A common problem is that on a bright sunny day it can be difficult to see anything on the LCD screen, except maybe your own reflection.This old style slide viewer can be modified in a way that allows it to be held up against the LCD screen of a digital camera. The screen is then shielded from the sun and the operator's eye looks through the small end of the viewer. This system becomes almost like an optical viewfinder.The modification involves cutting off the opaque ( light colored ) end of the viewer with a hacksaw. This is an easy operation. Then lightly file and sand the cut area.Lastly I cut some fuzzy side Velcro that had a peel-off sticky back so I could attach it to the cut face of the viewer and avoid scratching the LCD screen. Some good kitchen shears will cut these narrow strips of Velcro easily. Sticky side felt strips should work well too.This modified viewer has an open end of 1-3/4 inches square which does not cover the entire LCD. However the viewer magnifies what it sees by 2X. I have found that it makes me more careful about looking at the entire scene when composing the image.This slide viewer does everything that I hoped it would at a low cost.
